In Memory
Richard Carey Braun
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Richard (Rick) Carey Braun on Monday, December 23, 2024.
Rick was born in Altona, MB on January 20, 1958, and moved to Airdrie in 1967, growing up on the family farm east of Airdrie. Shortly after high school, Rick started his own trucking company, hauling propane for Airdrie Gas CO-OP and later, grain for many local farmers. Rick also farmed alongside his father for many years. Rick was fortunate to be able to do what he loved until his passing, and his dedication to farming and trucking was evident.
Rick is remembered by his loving wife of 36 years, Teresa; sisters, Debra (Kevin) Black, Sharlene (Ken) Lafferty; four nieces and two nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allan and Virginia Watson; sister-in-law, Karen Watson (Marc); brother-in-law, Boyd (Carla) Watson and many extended family. Rick is predeceased by his parents, Abe and Sara.
Rick was a jokester and had the biggest, most infectious smile. He loved a good card game, whether it be crib or blackjack. Football was also a passion and a friendly wager was not unheard of. He loved the art of making a deal as could be seen with the ever-changing equipment on the farm.
A service will be held at the Airdrie Town and Country Centre on Friday, January 3rd, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
As an expression of sympathy, the family welcomes donations to the charity of your choice.

A few years ago, Rick and Teresa came to MB and Rick tried his fishing skills at our lake. He brought his special lure and bragged about how good he was, and within minutes he caught a "big" one! We all laughed as he pulled up a grass bass but Rick didn't lose a beat, he laughed and said, if I can catch this guy in a few minutes, I know my special lure can catch the big ones too. His lure didn't let him down and he caught a few tiny jack fish. Lol. As a little memento, I got Rick a deck of cards with a picture of him and his little fish on every card. For some reason he refused to use them when playing cards with his friends. Rick, I will really miss you and all our interesting conversations.
My heartfelt condolences to Debbie, Sharlene and families too. You had a very special brother.
