It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) Dennis Holyk on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 75. Rick was born on October 13, 1949, in Lamont, Alberta, and lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a profound commitment to his family and career.

Rick is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife and best friend of 44 years, Elizabeth (Kimpy) Holyk; and his cherished children, Charlie Holyk, Marty Holyk, Terra Delbridge (Jay), and Carey Henke (Brent). He was the proud grandfather of Todd, Kendra, Kelsey, Ryder, Mikayla, Austyn, and Peyten, and the adored great-grandfather of Chloe and Rosie. He also leaves behind his sister, Judy (Terry) Barth, along with many cousins and extended family members.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, Emily and Alec Holyk; his brothers, David and Robert Holyk; his cousin Brian Matwichuk; and his grandson Bryce Henke.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Rick devoted over 55 years of his life to the Oil & Gas industry, retiring in 2014. His work ethic and passion for his career were matched only by his love for his family and friends. Rick embraced life to the fullest and left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and caregivers who provided support and care to Rick and Kim over the past several years.

In accordance with Rick’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rick’s name to the Kidney Foundation, (www.kidney.ca), an organization close to their hearts.

Rick’s memory will live on in the love and laughter he brought to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
