Richard "Rick" Paley

Rick unexpectedly died in his Calgary home at the too young age of 75. He was predeceased by his father, Peter Paley; his mother Caroline McManus and her husband Les; and his sister Phyllis McLaren. He is survived by brother-in-law Doug McLaren and nephew Dave McLaren of Cranbrook, BC.

After graduating with a master’s degree in history, Rick worked in Alberta’s Department of Northern Affairs for several years. He then joined Shell Canada as a landman where he worked for some 22 years before taking early retirement in 2003.

Rick was fascinated by and enjoyed a good debate about history, political news, and world events.  He will be fondly remembered by his friend and former wife, Anne Bouscal, and her family.
