Robert Raymond (Bob) Stewart

August 4th, 1953 - June 23rd, 2024
Robert Raymond (Bob) Stewart

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother, Bob Stewart on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 70 years of age. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mechelle; children, Melissa (Rob) and Sean (Cristina); grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Taylor, Audrey and Eva; his siblings, Jimmy (Pearl), Linda (Don) and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was born in Birtle, Manitoba where he grew up on the family farm living a childhood he fondly remembered. In 1975, he and Mechelle were married and after completing his Interprovincial Carpenter Certificate, they moved to Alberta to start their family.

His expertise in construction in both Carpentry and Electrical served him well and he was very proud of the many projects he had worked on including being Construction Superintendent for the Federal Government. He really enjoyed his accomplishments the last few years helping various Non-Profit groups like Sunnybrook Farms, Local Museums, Various Rodeo Associations and Children's Camps with any construction, maintenance or upkeep that was required.

Bob loved to spend time with his family outdoors. He loved sailing on the BC coast, walking the beach in Mexico, fishing, skiing, camping, quadding, sitting around a campfire, his motorcycle trips with the guys, with his sister, Linda or just him and Mechelle. He also enjoyed the many trips abroad that he and Mechelle had taken. His happiest times were when he was doing all those things with friends and family. He was looking forward to being able to have more time doing the things he loved with his recent retirement.

Another true love he had was his love for music. He played many instruments over the years and loved playing them with friends around a campfire. His guitar went with him to many places and with his long time friend, Lou Paul, they made many unforgettable memories. He was very excited when his grandson Evan started to play guitar and loved playing Johnny Cash songs with him.

Bob also had a love for animals. He would often be drawn to them and they would be drawn to him. From cats and dogs to raccoons and gophers he has had many companions over the years that all loved to spend time with him.

He will forever be remembered as the kind, caring and humorous man that he was.

He was predeceased by his father, Henry in 1996; his sister, Barb in 2021; and mother, Violet in 2023.

Donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.ca/donations. We thank you all for the outpouring of support and kind words during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Shady Nook Hall, 28348 Township Rd 380, Red Deer County, AB starting @ 3:00 PM.  All friends and family are welcome to join and share their memories together.

Bob shared many miles with a few of us who worked for Corrections . We had a lot of fun and more than a few beer on occasion. Some of my favourite memories included road trips with Bob and the Wild Hogs . Bob always wanted to be home for the rodeo , the one regret I have is I never heard him play .
I am grateful for the time we had and the miles we made , there are too few like him and the world is a poorer place without him .

Bob was one of the greatest men I knew. I will never forget how meticulous he was on some of the projects he had helped me with. He was so kind and always had time to share his knowledge. He will be truly missed. Condolences to his family. Hopefully you can get some comfort in knowing how many people's lives he touched.

Michelle and family. So sorry to here of Bob's passing. He was a very special friend growing up in Birtle. We made a lot of great memories together from riding our horses to traveling around the area in the old green Ford. Attending dances that he and Jim played at and many other great times. He will be greatly missed.

So sad that such an awesome guy is no longer with us. Bob always had such a calm confident demeanor. We always chatted about motorcycles and he shared his knowledge on being a correctional officer when I first started in corrections. I will always have great respect for Bob and will miss him greatly.

Bob was the Best Work Partner a person could have, he kept me entertained many a night shift relating stories of his youth, stories of his music gigs and his and Mechelle’s adventures. He helped me make my first guitar selection, and then played it and said I made a good choice. Bob was always the calm in my storms at work, I learned so much from him. Bob was a wonderful friend, I’ll always remember him as a kind and giving man who could get me laughing on my worst days.
