Rocco Angelozzi

Rocco Angelozzi, 84, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on July 7, 1941, at home, in San Leonardo, Italy, Rocco's life was a testament to love, laughter, learning and friendships.

Rocco was a man of many talents and passions. He enjoyed life and his friendliness and charm were evident early in life. Moving to Cranbrook in 1954 he soon found himself working with Harry Walkley who encouraged service and friendliness; a gift he would hone for all of his life. As Rocco always said: “Strangers are friends I have yet to meet!”

Even in the care home where he spent his final days, he would spend his time walking himself in his wheelchair saying hello and chatting with other residents and workers. Rocco loved to talk and share stories and tell his famous jokes. Darlene has heard them all at least a million times; hearing them over and over in the past 54 years!

Rocco had various jobs and callings through the years: Teacher, salesman, entrepreneur, and volunteer. (Remember the Calgary Stampede and walking behind the horses to scoop the p**p, as a soccer fund-raiser, Chiara?)

Rocco fulfilled a life-long dream and enrolled at the University of Calgary in the fall of 2023 concentrating on courses in Italian. One of his last courses Dante Alighieri’s “The Divine Comedy” really touched his heart and brought back fond childhood memories.

Rocco is lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Darlene; their four children, Nathan (Adriana), Austin, Damian, Chiara (Jeremy); and his niece Natasha (Trevor). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Evan, Nolan, Erik, Madden, Maty, Emry, Neve; and great niece, Hyacinth, who affectionately called him "Nonno and Uncle." Rocco’s memory will live on through his family whose lives have been enriched by his unwavering love and support. Rocco is also survived by his Uncle Armando (Ada) who he considered his brother; their son Renato (Lena) and children Martina and Gianni; daughter Linda (Tony) and children Nadia and Joseph; brother-in-law Gary (Rae), Gary’s children Lara and Todd (Lynn); sister-in-law Becky and her son Aaron (Madeleine); and other relatives, near and dear to his heart. He will also be missed by so very many great neighbors, friends near and far and classmates from his days at USF and U of C.

Rocco’s favourite color was blue and keeping with that theme, please wear something blue or colorful to his Celebration of Life to honour his life at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 1566 Northmount Dr NW, Calgary, AB T2L 0G6 on Friday April 17th ,11:00 AM. We invite everyone to attend the reception at the church afterwards to share stories and love.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to any organization or charity you hold dear to your heart.

Darlene and family. It has been years since I've seen or heard about your family. I remember how kind you both were when I would cross McKenzie road to babysit the boys. Rocco was always so full of knowledge and information and was such an inspiration for continued learning. I have many memories of the boys (no Chiara then), and how happy you all were.
I hope you can find some solace in this time. and remember that memories are precious for all.
