In Memory
Ronald Douglas Eaton

Ronald Douglas Eaton has taken his incredible side-splitting sense of humour to new heights and left for heaven on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025. Ron was born on December 4th, 1961 in New Westminster, B.C. and is the second son of Jim and Joan Eaton.
Ron hit the ground running from the day he was born. Never one to sit around thinking about it, Ron was doing it. If something went wrong, Ron didn’t see it as a problem, but rather an opportunity to learn. Ron had the gift of being a hands-on visual learner. With his immensely creative imagination, Ron could take his concept ideas and make them a reality.
Family and friends will attest, Ron missed his true calling in life as a comedian. Ron could bring the room into stitches with his infectious sense of humour. Making people laugh brought Ron tremendous happiness and enjoyment. Humour started early in life for Ron. Ron’s grade 6 teacher commented in his report card, “Ron could do better in school if he spent less time entertaining the class”. Ron could not pass up an opportunity to make people laugh or to bring a smile.
Ron's school years began at Greystone Heights Elementary in Saskatoon, followed by a brief stopover in Kelowna and finishing up in Calgary at Nickle School and E.P. Scarlett. Ron could find school a challenge at times. Teachers would comment that Ron was not keeping up. The problem was, school couldn't keep up with Ron.
God gifted Ron with an entrepreneurial spirit. At the age of 25, Ron entered the trucking business and started to haul goods across North America. In 1992, Ron developed and manufactured natural gas fireplaces and components under Lockwood Industries. Then in 2007, Ron brought a construction waste removal service to the Calgary market under the name Bin Rent. As an innovative and inventive individual, Ron would find ways for his business model to be on the leading edge over the competition.
Ron’s greatest achievement in life were his children, Naomi and Thomas. He was a devoted father who took extreme pride in watching his children grow up and develop successful careers. They also gifted Ron with 3 beautiful grandchildren.
Ron was blessed with the love of his life, Sherry and tied the knot with her on the warm beaches of Jamaica in 2010. Ron and Sherry are soulmates and loved spending time together. Ron’s passion was to prepare a meal so that he and Sherry could share and enjoy each other's company.
Ron made many memorable friendships in Calgary over time. Ron spent many an hour with his golfing friends and several great stories came from the weekend golf trips they spent together.
Ron had great culinary skills. He was well known among family and friends for his Sunday roast beef dinner with yorkshire pudding. Adding to his talents, Ron built his own backyard smoker and had a reputation for serving delicious smoked brisket.
In 2022, Ron and Sherry moved to Dickson Alberta. Ron worked part time at the Co-op in Spruce View where he entered a new chapter in life of making many new friendships and acquaintances. Ron often spoke affectionately of his local friends in the Dickson and Spruce View area.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Sherry; his children, Naomi(Dylan), Thomas(Emma); grandchildren, Lauren, Ted and Millie; Ron’s parents, Jim and Joan Eaton; and in-laws, Phil and Dawn Porteous. He is remembered by his brother, Jim(Marci (FSI)); niece, Amalia; great-niece, Isobell; and great-nephew, Lucas, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family.
Ron is predeceased by his niece, Kyla who passed in 2019.
Lastly, Ron’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Red Deer Hospice for their kindness and compassion assisting Ron on his end of life journey.
