Rosemarie (Romy) Ninette Odowichuk
Rosemarie (Romy) Ninette Odowichuk passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by her sister, Maureen Galvin; her niece, Sheena Galvin and her husband, Terry Campbell.
Rosemarie, born on May 13, 1948, in Edmonton, Alberta, was a NAIT graduate who worked as a bookkeeper at various firms, including Remington Tire Distributors (1994-2007). After moving to Calgary, she worked at Ranchman’s Cookhouse & Dancehall until 2009 and then with several accounting agencies. She traveled to Ireland, Australia, Mexico, Alaska, Tahiti, and across Canada. She corresponded with her Australian pen pal Mary Lou Constance and shared books and humour with friends, Doreen Powell and Dr. Coetzee, GP, Mokala Medical. Maureen and Brian Bent; niece, Kayleigh; and her partner Allie; and great-nephew, Nick; who visited her bedside.
Rosemarie showed unwavering dedication to her parents, Nicholas (Nick) and Philomena (Pat) Odowichuk, throughout their lives. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Suzanne and Mary. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Michelle MacLeod, Maureen Galvin of Calgary, Alberta, and Nikki Turner of Belfast, Ireland.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring or summer of 2025. The family acknowledges Unit 59 for their care of patients with diabetes and vascular disease who are at risk of lower limb amputation. They recognize the efforts of the nursing staff, surgeons, wound care nurses, and orthotic technicians in caring for Rosemarie. The Zivot Limb Preservation Centre is situated at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
