Rose Mary DeBernardo

Rose Mary DeBernardo passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 85 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Mario DeBernardo; son, Brian (Laraine) DeBernardo; grandchildren, Ashley (Evan) DeBernardo and Jared (Amber) DeBernardo, sister Susan (Howard) Seefeldt; nephew, David (Kim) Seefeldt; niece, Kathleen Seefeldt (Dustin & Amanda); as well as numerous relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Rose Ann Melvin; father, William Melvin; and brother, Michael Melvin.

Rose and her twin sister, Susan, were born in Glasgow, Scotland. Rose and her sister, Susan were best friends throughout their life. Together they came to Canada at the age of 22 to live with their aunt in Drumheller. They trained in Calgary to be Nurses. Rose met Mario in Drumheller where they were married at St. Anthony’s Church, on November 7, 1964. This November would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. Rose gave up Nursing in 1971 to become a full time Mom and homemaker. Rose had many hobbies throughout her life. Paper Tole was one of those hobbies she will be remembered for. Her artwork is hung in the homes of many of her family and friends. Rose eagerly anticipated spring each year as it meant spending time at their trailer near Bowden with family and friends. She was an avid golfer. She continued to golf even at the age of 85. Rose even had the distinction of scoring a hole in one at the age of 68 years old in Oceanside, CA where she spent many winter getaways with Susan and Howard. Rose spent most of her adult life in Drumheller. She moved with her husband Mario to Airdrie shortly after her grandchildren Ashley and Jared were born, to be closer to her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Rose will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

We remember her and her husband attending many of Jared’s hockey games throughout the years. So very sorry for the families loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
