Ruth Krenzler

Ruth Krenzler, third of fourteen children of Samuel and Emilie Schafer, was born in Woodbend, Alberta on December 12, 1925. She died in Calgary at the age of 100 years on Saturday, July 18, 2026.  

Ruth lived with her parents in Woodbend and after her father died at the age of 47, she remained there with her mother and younger siblings until she went to Canadian Union College, now Burman University. There she met her future husband Levern Krenzler, whom she was married for 67 years. After raising their three daughters, Ruth earned her LPN degree and had a fulfilling career at Branson Hospital in Toronto and Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre. 

She enjoyed engaging in church activities, family camping trips, taking pictures of family, friends, and flowers, and offering gracious hospitality in her home. 

Ruth is lovingly remembered by her two brothers, Robert Schafer (Roberta) and Leon Schafer (Joyce) and one sister, Carrol Smith (Howard); three daughters, Gaylene Border (Dan), Donna Krenzler, and Janice Krenzler; four grandchildren, Jonathan Border (Bekah Graff), Jana Border, Peter Dassenko (Meredith), and Andrew Dassenko (Felicia); and seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Border, Oliver Border Graff, Devon, Braden, and Breana Border, and Abbagail and Oakken Dassenko. She was predeceased by her husband Levern, eight brothers, and two sisters. 

Ruth is resting in Jesus, awaiting the call of the Life Giver on the Resurrection Day.
