Ruth Zinck

Ruth Zinck, born 25 of April 1928, passed away 15 of August 2026. Ruth spent most of her adult life in Kitchner-Waterloo where she started the K-W Flyfishers Club and then to Calgary where she forever changed the Calgary Hook & Hackle Club as well as the Calgary Women Fly Fishers Club. She was a prominent and cherished long time member of Fly Fishers International. Ruth was a renowned fly fisher who gained worldwide accolades in the fly fishing, fly tying community. She was a proud supporter of Casting for Life and Breast Cancer Awareness, designing her Royal Lady Series of fly patterns to aid in awareness and fundraising.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, William (Bill); granddaughters, Ashley, Che’ and their mother Cynthia; granddaughter, Haley; and two great grandsons.
Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Frederick; as well as her daughter, Jenna.
Ruth was a Wilfred Laurier Alumni, a wonderful singer, active in her church, a writer, and staunch environmentalist.
In Memory of Ruth, a Service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 20 Bannister Gate, Okotoks, Alberta on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 1:00 PM
