Sharon Lee Abar

Surrounded by family, Sharon Abar passed away peacefully at the age of 77 in Calgary. Sharon was predeceased by her loving husband, Ivan and her stepfather, George. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her daughters, Rhonda (Nitin), Deanna, and Michele (Dennis); her mother, Marie; her brother, Larry (Ann); her bonus siblings, Ron (Gina) and Sherry (Paul); her beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Robyn, Rachel, Josh (Brooklyn), Rose and Hayley; as well as many nieces and nephews. Sharon was a long-time friend of Bill W.

Sharon loved spending time with family and created many special family traditions. She enjoyed listening to Elvis and watching his movies. She delighted in travelling and of the places she visited, Hawaii was her favourite.

Sharon was a respected businesswoman and was active in the Calgary real estate industry for many years. One of her greatest joys was the relationships she built with colleagues and clients as a Broker/Owner at Century 21 The Professionals Ltd. These connections were deeply meaningful to her and brought her much fulfillment. Sadly, Sharon suffered a second set of brain aneurisms in 2004 which had a profound impact on her life and ended this happy chapter.

The last years of Sharon’s life were spent at the Bethany Harvest Hills care facility as she lived with Alzheimer’s disease. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for her during this time.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honour at Bow Valley Christian Church, 5300 53 Avenue NW in Calgary at 2 pm on Monday, December 2, 2024. A time of reminiscing and refreshments will follow. A private interment for family will be held.

A live stream and recording of the event will take place with a link https://vimeo.com/event/4753531.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer Society.

Upon hearing the news I have a heavy heart and am heartbroken for you all. When I think of Sharon/Mom, what jumps into my head is the lively, energetic, vivacious, exuberant, positive and inclusive woman I came to know and love. A good example is about 40 years ago, when you [Michele] and I were becoming BFF's (and were inseparable), she knew me only two weeks when she introduced me to a couple strangers as her "adopted daughter"! Her personality was vibrant and infectious and I am honoured to have been a special person in her life. Love you all!!
