Sheila Rose Steed (Harmston), aged 77, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, AB, surrounded by her loving family.

Sheila was born May 9,1946, in Trail, BC, to Lenard and Doris Harmston, and raised in Castlegar, BC. Sheila devoted her life to her husband and family. Sheila enjoyed family gatherings, the holidays (especially Christmas) and spring when she could finally garden after a long, cold winter.

Sheila worked at the Calgary General Hospital as an LPN where she met Cecil Steed. Sheila and Cecil married on June 21, 1967, in Calgary, AB. They were blessed with three children, David, Carrie. and Glen. Sheila is survived by Cecil, her loving husband of 58 years; three children, David (Lori) Steed, Carrie (Albert Sr.) Cadman, and Glen (Pamela) Steed; 12 grandchildren, Kristopher (Carolina) Steed, Alexandra Cadman, Brandon (Sadia) Badiuk, Evan Badiuk, Jessica (Dylan) Koch, Amanda (Justin) Thomson, Mitchell (Madison) Higson, Katherine Cadman, Erin Higson, Carter Steed, Angela Cadman,  and Albert Jr. Cadman; one great-grandchild, Bennett Thomson; four siblings, Janet (George) Baird, Richard (Susan) Harmston, Susan (Clifford) Schultz, and Denise (Robert) Bishop. Sheila also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sheila was predeceased by her parents, Lenard and Doris Harmston; and brothers-in-law, George Baird and Robert Bishop.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, especially Kaitlyn RN, for her compassionate care and support during Sheila’s brief hospital stay. A Celebration of Life to honour Sheila will take place at Centre Street Church, Bearspaw Campus, 33 Damkar Ct, Calgary, AB, on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
