In Memory
Susan Martin

The measure of a life is often found in the people it touches, and Susan Martin's life touched many. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a loving sister and aunt, and an extraordinary friend who intentionally nurtured relationships throughout her life.
Susan Lorraine Martin (née Burton) passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on April 27, 1953, in Edmonton, Alberta, Susan moved to Calgary with her family as a teenager. In Calgary, she built a life marked by love, generosity, creativity, and deep devotion to the people around her. She shared nearly 52 years of marriage with her high school sweetheart, Dennis Martin, and together they built a life centered on family, friendship, faith, and love. Susan worked as an accountant for many years, bringing the same care and dedication to her profession that she showed in every area of her life.
Susan is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dennis; her son, Scott (Kate); her daughter, Laura (Jon); her grandchildren, Maxwell, Wylie, and Eleanor, who brought her endless joy; her sister, Val (Andy); her brother, Jim (Kimberley); and many extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Blythe Burton.
To know Susan was to feel welcome. Whether through a shared meal, a camping trip, a phone call, or an afternoon visit, she made people feel seen, valued, and loved. A gifted host, talented cook, artist and creative spirit, she found joy in caring for others and in time spent with friends. She loved to laugh and dance, was known for her playful sense of humour, and treasured every moment spent with the people she loved.
At the foundation of Susan's life was her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, which quietly shaped the way she lived, loved, and served others, providing strength and hope throughout her life. Susan's greatest gift was bringing people together.
In that spirit, family and friends are invited to gather in the atrium of SunWest Church, 260 Midpark Blvd. SE, Calgary on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM for a celebration of Susan's life. Rather than a formal service, we will gather together for a short program and a time to connect in celebration of a life so well lived and so deeply loved. All are welcome.
