Susan Thiessen Leadlay

October 3rd, 1930 - September 29th, 2025
Susan Thiessen Leadlay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Thiessen Leadlay on September 29, 2025.

Born October 3, 1930 in Lowe Farm, MB to Katerina and Peter Wiebe, Susan had four siblings, Peter Wiebe, Anne Wiebe, Tina Wiebe Goertzen and Cornelius Wiebe, all predeceased.

Susan married John E. Thiessen in 1948 and resided in Winnipeg, MB and had five children, Kenneth Thiessen (Predeceased 2001) (Edith), Larry Thiessen (Cheryl, predeceased 2023); Bruce Thiessen (Cindy), Leonard Thiessen (Heather), Dianne (Thiessen) Vassos (Marcus), and 7 grandchildren, Melanie, Alyssa, Kendall, Kimberly, Sydney, Tyler and Carlie; and 2 great-granddaughters, Parker and Stella; and many nieces and nephews.

The family moved from Manitoba to Red Deer, AB in 1967 where John worked as a butcher at Co-op and Susan started her own hairdressing shop, Parkland Beauty Salon. Susan was predeceased by her husband John in 1983.

In 1984, Susan met Frank C. Leadlay and began a relationship that would span 32 years. And with that an extended family which included, Brenda, Audrey, Kevin (Predeceased 2012) (Rita) , and their respective families. Susan and Frank were inseparable and in 2005 they married. They golfed, travelled, danced and laughed their way through their life together. They loved each other dearly. They were soulmates. Sadly, Frank passed away in 2016. Carried by her faith in Jesus, Susan continued on. She wanted everyone to know that she gave her heart to Jesus and wanted that peace and promise of eternal life for all, especially for her children and their children. She is now at home in Heaven with our Saviour Jesus, waiting for all of us to join her someday. She will be extremely missed. A Memorial Service will be held at Home Church Legacy Place, Red Deer, AB @ 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

To the Thiessen Family-we have very fond memories of Susan.
We had many fun times with Frank and Sue during our golfing and dancing years and enjoyed many meals and card evenings together. Your mother was always a very special and loyal friend and will truly be missed.
Sending our most condolences- Doris Stollings & George Tkach
