Terry Cennon passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 12, 2026 in La Qunita, California. Terry is lovingly remembered by his children, Robert and William (Tiffany) Cennon; the love of his life, Diann Rowat and her children, Crissinda (Cody) and Mitchell (Tracie); his grandchildren, Matthew, Quincy, Bailee-Dawn (Keagan), Rhya and Van; his brothers, Allan, Stan (Pim) and Greg (Kris); and sisters, Lois (Ray) and Louise; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Terry was predeceased by Robert and William's mom, Coral Cennon.

Terry was a highly successful businessman in the oil and gas industry, with work spanning western Canada, Alberta, Australia, Peru and India, among other regions. Terry was a majority owner in PosiTec Drilling Controls (Canada) Inc. PosiTec developed the first retrievable MWD (Slim-1) tool in the world. He was also a majority owner of Newsco Directional & Horizontal Drilling Services Inc.

He enjoyed a good competitive game of golf, a glass of red wine paired with a great steak, and cherished time spent with family and friends. For the past 34 years, he especially loved spending his winters in La Quinta, where he made many lasting memories.

A private family Graveside Service and Celebration of Life have been held.

In lieu of flowers a donation in Terry's memory may be made the Veteran's Food Bank of Calgary, 4303 26 St NE #114, Calgary, AB T1Y 7K2.

Grew up with Terry and Al in S’toon. Have keep slightly in touch over the years. Always,remebered the fun times, we had thorough our lives together. He was a great friend over many years. Condolences to his extended family that I have lost touch with.

Terry it’s been a pleasure spending time with you the last few years when you visit Australia, the girls love to listen to your stories and your worldly experiences. We are so happy you got to have your lamb cutlets from the bowls club on your recent visit and even more special got to try a chicken schnitzel (the Aussie way). I spent hundreds of 24 hour days one on one with Terry on a multitude of wellsites during the early years with PosiTec in Canada as well as when we first went into Texas. Terry consistently earned and always maintained my very high level of respect for him personally, whether we were in the field or the shop/office or during our time together outside working hours.
