Tina van der Molen

With deep sadness we announce the passing of our mom and grandma Tina Van Der Molen on Saturday, March 28 2026, surrounded by those she loved. A remarkable woman by all accounts, she was feisty, hard-working, independent and resourceful and had strength and resilience in abundance. Most importantly she loved and was loved fiercely by her family. She was the first in her family to immigrate to Canada from Holland in 1952. Born on October 18 1926, she was the daughter of Fokko Van Der Molen and Henny Ter Brugge, and sister to her twin Hiltje, who passed shortly after birth, Hendrik (Hank), Jan, Aaltje, Hilda, Berend (Ben), Harm, Arie, Fokko Jan, Anne, Klaas, Rieks, and Willemke, all of whom have passed before her, and is lovingly remembered by her youngest brother, Grietinus (Tinus). She was predeceased by her daughters, Henny and Carol. She is also lovingly remembered by her sons, Andy, Roman, John, and Steve; daughter, Mary Ann; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brenda, Laura, Danielle, Andrzej (Onjay), Jessica, Christopher, Jason, Kristen, Dylan, Jeffrey, Ian, Kendal, Noah, Hannah, Adriano, Sienna, Alessio, Lennox, Xander, Sofia and Felix. To know her was to love her, the pied piper of all babies and dogs – she was like a magnet and could get any little one to smile and laugh and any dog to want to sit in her lap to get some cuddles. A cook who could make something out of nothing, everybody has a favourite dish she used to prepare. There are so many memories to share about her life of 99 years, with her still having her independence right to the end of her days. To her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she would say that life is beautiful, enjoy it and all the beauty God has given us, but it is not without challenges. Know that the ability to weather any storm is from her – we all have it in us – remember who you are and where you came from. She endured countless hardships in her life but always found a way to move forward and see the good in what life has to offer. There are so many others whose lives she touched, Jessie and Dave, extended family, nieces, nephews, and neighbours, and her family thanks you for being a part of her life. To Dr. Aftab Hanif and Dr. Peter Rye, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your care, compassion, understanding and for allowing her to do things her way. Rest in peace mom, you are missed beyond words. Thank you for everything.

Aunt Tiny was such a sweet lady. My father (her brother) Rieks also loved her very much. She took care of him when he was a little boy. I hope she may rest in peace. My condolences for the family overseas

My sweet Tina always had a smile on her face, a story to tell, and a big hug. She was one of the strongest women I've ever met and will be dearly missed. The love she had for her family was obvious and is reflected in them. My heartfelt and profound condolences to Tina's family. Peace be with you and with Tina.
