Tommy (Tom) Roderick Browne

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tommy Roderick Browne. Tom moved from Hamilton, Ontario, in 2014 and settled in Airdrie, Alberta. He passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, on Tuesday, August 26th, at approximately 1:30 a.m., after a lengthy illness.

He was lovingly cared for and faithfully supported to the end by his partner of 21 years, Lona Poleon.

Born in Trinidad, West Indies, Tom immigrated to Canada in the late 1960s in search of a better life. He was full of life, loved people and parties, and had an ambitious spirit. A true jack of all trades, Tom held many careers throughout his lifetime. He worked as a bus mechanic, graduated from York University, and went on to teach high school with the Peel Board of Education in Brampton, Ontario, where he introduced his passion for the steel pan to the music program. He also taught at the Hamilton District School Board.

Dedicated to service, Tom graduated from both the Auxiliary Police Department in Peel Region and the Auxiliary Fire Department. He was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating Collectocar Restorations and LNB Towing. After retiring from teaching, he ran LNB Limo for several years before fully retiring.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Dulcina Mason (Browne) and Thomas Browne of Tobago, West Indies. He was the eldest of six siblings: Barbara, Jacqueline, Jeffrey, Robert, and Michelle.

He is survived by his children: Jermaine, David, Bryan, Samantha, Madison, the twins, and Tammy, as well as his former wife, Linda Neave-Browne. He is also remembered by his other children: Bradley, Byron, Laura, Leana, Ritchie, and Richard. Grand father to Ayanna, Maddie and Gemma.

We would also like to thank the medical team, family and dearest friends for their love and support over the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
