In Memory
Virgil Frank Bergen
Virgil Frank Bergen passed away very peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the age of 82 years. He was born to his parents, Frank and Margaret Bergen, on February 21, 1942 in Rosemary, Alberta. He spent the majority of his lifetime on the family farm.
Virgil followed in the footsteps of his parents and took over the farm when they retired to Didsbury. It was in the early years of his farming career that he went back to school, yes, he drove a school bus taking students to and from school for fourty five years. He retired from school bus driving in 2011 and from farming in 2012. He still lived on the farm during his retirement.
Virgil volunteered every week at the Mennonite Central Committee Thrift store in Calgary and took part in the Bergthal Mennonite Church worship services. He enjoyed family camping trips, along with a family trip to Victoria, BC for his 65th birthday in 2007 and a Caribbean cruise on his retirement in 2012. He was always open to family lunch and coffee times.
Virgil is survived by his sister Mildred (Gerry) Siemens, his sister-in-law Linda Bergen, numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother Arnold Bergen and two infant brothers.
On behalf of Virgil we would like to express with gratitude your kindness shown through words, thoughts, deeds, and prayers.
