In Memory
Wayne Thompson
It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Thompson on
December 21, 2023, at the age of 73. He passed away peacefully surrounded by
his loving family.
Wayne
was born on February 1, 1950, in Kingston, ON, to Blake & Adele Thompson
and grew up in Inverary with his sister, Hilda. Growing up he had a passion for
sports, and while he had a lot of success playing football with The Black
Knights at La Salle High School in Kingston, his favorite was hockey, which he
continued to play up until this past season.
Wayne
and his family moved out West in 1977, and he worked for Dow Chemical for 34
years. He fell in love with the Alberta Rockies, and spent much of his spare
time camping, hunting, riding and training his horses, and making some
exceptional friendships along the way.
He
inspired a love of sports, adventure and the great outdoors in his children. He
enjoyed coaching various teams, supporting 4H, and cheering them on from near
or far.
Wayne
is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Sue; children, Erin Jones
(Russell), Adam (Shandel), and Sarah (Tom); and his adoring grandchildren,
Oliver, Grayson, Haze and Meeka.
A
casual Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Hall in Didsbury on Saturday,
February 3, 2024 from 12-5 PM.
