In Memory
Wietske Altmann

Pre-deceased by her husband Dick in 2006
Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Audrey (John) and Janet (Garry); grandsons, Andrew (Sarah) and Alex (Jaime), and great granddaughter, Elliot.
Mom was born in Indonesia, and moved with her family back to the Netherlands in 1933. She completed her schooling there, then took her nursing training, completing her BScNursing after the end of WW2. She took additional training to become a registered psychiatric nurse, and then a year in England for her midwifery program and to learn hospital English. She emigrated to Canada in 1954 to pursue her nursing career.
She met and married her husband in 1956, and began raising their family with Audrey (1957) and Janet (1959). The family moved to Surinam in 1962, returning to Canada in 1965. Mom and Dad retired in 1982, moving to Creston BC where they lived until 2005. From there they returned to Alberta, living in Red Deer until their deaths.
Mom was an avid gardener, and a master of all types of needlework. She shared her creations freely, because it gave her a reason to get up every morning. She was a great role model and showed her daughters how to be strong, independent women.
Mom requested a private family celebration of life, to be held at a future date. We will miss her dearly.
