In Memory
William Clapperton

William (Bill) Richard Clapperton was born September 26, 1945 in Westlock, AB. The youngest of two older sisters, Virginia and Janet. They lived in Tawatinaw until he was seven when Richard and Hilda moved the family to Airdrie. He graduated from George McDougall High School in 1964. Bill went to SAIT to get his Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket. He worked in Whitecourt for Dome. He then returned home to farm with his Dad. In 1970 he purchased a quarter section against his father’s advice. Unable to get more land to farm full time, he continued to work for the City of Calgary.
On April 6, 1974, Bill married the love of his life, Cheryl. Together they built a strong and loving family raising their three sons, Kyle, Todd and Aaron and later welcoming three lovely daughters-in-law, Devan, Michelle, and Melissa into the family. Enjoying the love and laughter of two grandchildren, Abriela and Max made his day.
He spent the majority of his career working at the Crossfield Gas Plant. After retiring from there he worked for Tri-Energy spending weeks out of town at various plants during shut downs.
In 1990 they moved from Airdrie and built on the farm. They were there 35 years. It was getting far too hard for Bill to maintain. We appreciated all the help received getting moved back into Airdrie last year.
Bill found great joy in the outdoors water skiing, boating and camping, sharing those moments with people he loved. Family vacations meant the most to him. He snow skied up to three years ago. He could get a seasons pass for $99 and used it.
Bill will be remembered for his quiet strength, hard working spirit, his faith in the Lord, his Saviour, his family and friends.
He will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Town & Country Centre, 275 Jensen Drive NE, Airdrie, AB, on May 22, 2026 at 2:30 PM.
