Wolfgang Siegfried Labahn

In the early morning on Saturday, October 11th of 2025, Wolfgang (Wolf) Labahn passed away peacefully after a long illness. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers, George (Laura), Roly (Karen), Dirk; sister, Astrid (Rod); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Siegfried and Gerda. He leaves behind family, good friends and his horse racing community.

Wolf was independent, loyal to his friends, and sharp witted. He grew up in Edmonton and for years travelled back and forth from Calgary as part of his association with the horse racing circuit. He continued to follow horse racing for the rest of his life. He then became a taxi driver for 20 years until his retirement.

We wish to acknowledge, with profound gratitude, the many friends and family who made a special effort to visit him in hospital before his passing. We would also like to thank all those in the medical community who helped with his care over the years.

A Celebration of Life is planned for sometime in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made in his memory to the Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association of Alberta, PO Box 7005, Town Square Post Office, Leduc, AB T9E 1H7.

He will be missed.
